DLIFLC Commandant Assumption of Command
PRESIDIO OF MONTEREY, Calif. -- The Department of Defense’s premier training institution for culturally based foreign language welcomed its newest commandant, as Col. David K. Chapman assumed command of the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center during a ceremony on Presidio's Soldier Field May 22. Brig. Gen. Christopher P. Hughes, deputy commanding general for Leader Development and Education at the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., officiated the ceremony. Chapman is a DLIFLC graduate with certificates in Russian, Serbian/Croatian and Greek languages, who also served as a second lieutenant 25 years ago at the former Fort Ord with the then-7th Infantry Division.
