Crooked River Grasslands, Oregon
It was a great day to go over to Central Oregon. We had fabulous blue skies intermingled with crazy thunderstorms. It was a big decision to drive away from or towards those clouds. So we split the difference and stayed just ahead of them. This area of the Crooked River has the great expanses of grasslands, and rolling hills, and plateau bluffs. The crazy dark clouds just added a contrast to all that lush green. The Crooked River is a tributary, 125 miles (201 km) long, of the Deschutes River in Oregon. The river begins at the confluence of the South Fork Crooked River and Beaver Creek. Of the two tributaries, the South Fork Crooked River is the larger and is sometimes considered part of the Crooked River proper. Original public domain image from Flickr
