Hōkūleʻa and Hikianalia arrive in Apia, 1st September 2014
Hōkūleʻa and Hikianalia, her sister vessel are welcomed to Apia after voyaging from Pago Pago.
Hōkūleʻa is a performance-accurate full-scale replica of a waʻa kaulua, a Polynesian double-hulled voyaging canoe.
On May 18, 2014, Hōkūle‘a and Hikianalia embarked from Oahu for "Malama Honua", a three year circumnavigation of the earth. The journey will cover 47,000 nautical miles with stops at 85 ports in 26 different countries. Original public domain image from Flickr
